NAACP
Connecticut State Conference
2074 Park Street
Hartford,CT 06106
Greetings,
First, let me thank-you for taking the time to research our website
and extend my sincere gratitude to our webmaster for her continued
efforts to develop a great information center for us all.
As you are aware, the Connecticut State Conference Branches of
the NAACP continues to be a leading voice in addressing local, state
and national issues facing our African American, Hispanic and other
minorities. We believe that all people deserve equal rights and
improved opportunities within this great nation of America and
abroad.
The NAACP after being established by a group of about sixty black,
white men and women it has grown to more than 500,000 members,
we have continued from our first fights with lynching, to the
desegregation of the armed forces and schools, to improved voter
registration, the NAACP has been using the court system,
legislatures and grassroots activism to make permanent, legal
changes in institutions and policies that discriminate.
Many may argue that we have lost our relevance, but recent events
of Katrina and judicial appointments to the extreme right, continue to
threaten the human and civil rights of poor people who remain
voiceless in this powerful bureaucracy. The State Conference
Branches will continue to “Speak Truth To Power” and we welcome
you to join us by taking out an annual or life membership, by simply
going to the application on this site and submitting it now.
Finally, if we can be of any assistance please do not hesitate to
contact us, again thanks for visiting us on www.naacp-ct.org as the
struggle continues.
Sincerely,
Scot X Esdaile, President
